This strawberry muddy buddies recipe needs no introduction… it’s the perfect snack or dessert for any Valentine’s celebration!

Valentine’s Day Strawberry Muddy Buddies

I think we can all remember the first time we had muddy buddies (also known as puppy chow). And if you’ve never had it before, let this be your first. It’s the perfect snack on every front – light, easy to eat, fun to make, and comes together in about 10 minutes.

What are Muddy Buddies?

If you’ve never had them before… muddy buddies are basically just Chex cereal or cheerios covered in peanut butter and chocolate, then tossed in a coating of powdered sugar. It’s honestly so hard to top that combination lol.

With this recipe, because it’s almost Valentine’s Day, we’re doing a strawberry flavor variation. And no, we’re not adding actual strawberries to the mix – instead we’re finely processing freeze dried strawberries into a fine powder, then tossing the chocolate-coated cereal in that! What makes freeze dried strawberries so good is that they pack a HUGE punch of strawberry flavor – making this the yummiest muddy buddy recipe of all.

This is a very basic recipe, so here’s what you’ll need:

Tips for Valentine’s Day Muddy Buddies

  1. Make sure you finely process the strawberries – we’re looking for a powder consistency in these strawberries. That way it will evenly coat the cereal pieces.
  2. GENTLY toss the cereal in the chocolate. We definitely don’t want to break the cereal into really small pieces, so the key word here is gently. I like to use my hands honestly, that’s the easiest way I’ve found to ensure my cereal doesn’t break.

I hope you all love this recipe as much as I do, and remember if you make this to tag me @sarahsdayoff so I can see! Happy Valentine’s Day!
