Welcome to Sarah’s Day Off, I’m so happy you’re here!

I’m Sarah, your new baking bestie and the girl behind the recipes, food photography, and food styling here. The idea for Sarah’s Day Off started with my husband, Noah, in our teenie tiny 1-bedroom apartment when we first got married.

I was desperate to find a creative outlet where I could combine my love for cooking and writing, so he suggested starting a blog! He came up with the name and everything, and I’m so happy he did because I love every bit of this food blog and this community.

So I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: I’m a registered dietitian by trade!! Yes, you read that right: a registered dietitian turned baker.

I studied nutrition in college and had every intention of having a fancy clinical dietitian job working in a fancy hospital and living that “fancy” life. Buuuut then things changed in grad school:

In between the countless hours studying biochemistry and medical nutrition therapy I decided that it was time for me to learn to bake the most perfect chocolate chip cookies… Like ever. So I went on a quest to find the perfect recipe. I did find that recipe (here’s the link), and along the way I discovered that I actually really liked this whole baking thing (how could I not?!).

Fast forward a couple years and I was baking almost every weekend (my days off from my job as a registered dietitian), and Sarah’s Day Off began!

Here at Sarah’s Day Off you’ll find recipes for elevated twists on classic and nostalgic recipes. Things like Homemade Donuts, Blueberry Muffins, and a slew of baking tips and tricks in between.

I see this blog as an opportunity to connect with other bakers, my dear friends who also love to get their hands and kitchens a little messy while bravely tackling their first batch of Swiss Meringue Buttercream.

Love and cookies, Sarah
