Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup

Everyone loves that time of year when the famed Starbucks spiced pumpkin latte hits the stands again. It really doesn’t feel like fall until I get my hands on one of those drinks to be completely honest! There’s something about the warm cozy feeling of holding a warm drink when the leaves start changing colors that’s just… perfect.

Well, I truthfully got sick of how expensive the Starbucks spiced pumpkin latte is at the store, so I decided to make my own at home! I have an espresso machine that I use to make mine with, but if you don’t have one – no worries, this pumpkin spice latte syrup recipe will work perfectly with regular coffee!

What is Pumpkin Spice Latte Syrup?

This pumpkin spice latte syrup is really quite simple. We’re combining a few ingredients (including pumpkin, obv.) in a saucepan and simmering them until the consistency can coat the back of a spoon – it’ll look almost like a simple syrup.

This pumpkin spice latte syrup can be used with a shot of espresso and some steamed milk to make a regular latte, or you can use regular coffee in place of the espresso and still have a tasty result!

Here’s a few things I think you should enjoy with your homemade pumpkin spice latte…

Equipment you may need…

  • Saucepan: I love this saucepan from Le Creuset, but any saucepan will do for this pumpkin spice latte syrup!
  • Mixing bowls: I love these glass mixing bowls from Amazon. They’re especially perfect for food photography.
  • Wooden spoon: I only use wooden spoons and rubber spatulas when I’m baking, and I love these!
  • Measuring cups/spoons: I’ve been linking these in all of my posts because I love them SO much! They are beautiful and look just like some other expensive ones on the market (but wayyy cheaper).

Tips for Making Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes

If you have an espresso machine at home, and you’re wanting to use this pumpkin spice latte syrup to make a homemade pumpkin spice latte, here’s what I do…

  1. Always stir the pumpkin spice latte syrup before you use it. Add 2 Tbsp of your pumpkin spice latte syrup to your cup.
  2. Pull a double shot of espresso into your cup with the syrup (you can also use a single shot if you want). Use a spoon to stir the 2 together.
  3. Steam your milk using your steam wand or use a milk frothing tool to do the same.
  4. Then pour your milk into the espresso/syrup mixture. You can top with whipped cream and ground cinnamon if you want 🙂
How to store pumpkin spice latte syrup

This pumpkin spice latte syrup recipe makes a lot of syrup, so I like to keep mine in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Then, whenever you’re ready to use it, you’ll just take a tablespoon or so and add it straight to your coffee and milk.
