Galentine’s Day Dessert Charcuterie Board

There’s not a lot of things I love more at a party than a dessert charcuterie board.. you can pretty much assume that if there’s a cheese board around, that’s where I’ll be standing. In fact, I really think I should put a dessert charcuterie board tutorial on the blog… what do y’all think?? Let me know in the comments down below!!

While most charcuterie boards have cheese, meats, various crackers, and dips arranged in a beautiful fashion – I’m doing this one dessert style. This is truly one of the best boards you can make for friends and family, and it’s so much fun to put together. And the good news? You can fill it with alllll your fav things.

This is such a great idea for a Galentine’s Day dessert because it couldn’t be more simple to throw together on a board.

This post was inspired by another fellow food blogger, strawberry blonde kitchen!

What is a Dessert Charcuterie Board?

I think we can all remember our first experience with a charcuterie board, or maybe it’s just me. But we all know that at any dinner party or other big event the place to be is the charcuterie table. It’s where people go to snack on all of their favorite meats and cheeses (traditionally), and things really just go together here.

So naturally, in my baking mindset, I thought to myself.. what’s better than a regular charcuterie board (because I do love my meats and cheeses)??? A dessert charcuterie board, of course! So, in this recipe I filled all of my favorite things up on a giant snacking board for all of my gals to enjoy. It’s the perfect way to celebrate any occasion, and honestly I’d probably prefer a giant dessert board over some other desserts anyway. Ok, maybe I’d take a few of these brownies!

Can I make this for any occasion?

Yes! The answer when it comes to dessert charcuterie is always yes. If you don’t feel like making a big dessert for an occasion and you’d rather just throw some of your favorite store-bought items on a big board for everyone to dig into – go for it. Everyone will leave just as happy, I guarantee it, because it looks like you’ve thrown in more effort than you probably have!

But if you are wanting to bake an actual dessert for Galentine’s Day this year, here are a few other options:

Ingredients for the Galentine’s Day Dessert Charcuterie Board

  • Homemade Lofthouse cookies: These cookies are some of my favorites, and adding these to your spread will be the perfect little ‘homemade moment.’ You can also buy some regular lofthouse-style cookies from the grocery store if you’re in a pinch.
  • Piroulines: I used the vanilla flavor on my board, but choose your favorite!
  • Twizzlers: perhaps the highlight of the board – one of my favorite candies!
  • Sour patch kids (heart shapes): again, a crowd favorite 🙂
  • Wafer cookies: I chose the pink color because, well, Valentine’s Day obviously!!
  • Rice Krispy treats: I’d recommend making your own, but the store-bought ones are soooo yummy too.
  • V-day m&ms: a must for any dessert board honestly
  • Jolly rancher heart candies: aren’t jolly ranchers just so nostalgic?? Perfect for this galentine’s day board. These little heart-shaped ones are so adorable!!
  • Dove chocolate hearts: arguably the best chocolate on the market – and I think lots of people agree!! You can use just regular milk chocolate ones, but I HIGHLY recommend trying the dark chocolate ones – they’re my fav!!
  • Vanilla wafers: I always forget about how much I love these cookies on their own until I make a batch of banana pudding and eat the whole box before I finish making the pudding lol. So I wanted to include them here!! I also recommend always using the Nilla Wafers brand, I’ve tried all the store brands and I am 100% positive that this is the best one out there.
  • Frosted animal crackers: you already know these had to make an appearance on this board – so nostalgic and so perfect for the occasion!
  • White chocolate melts: I love these from Ghiradelli – they melt perfectly and are just way better than any store brand
  • Chocolate dessert hummus: something a little bit ‘lighter’ for the board 🙂 I always get the Boar’s Head one and just a little tip: this is absolutely delicious with some chocolate teddy grahams – I’m not sure what it is but I love eating this as a little dessert after dinner!

Ok, I think that was everything!!

How to assemble a dessert charcuterie board

One of the most beautiful things about a spread like this one is that you really can’t mess it up. When you scatter things on a board in a random way – it will look good. Trust me. Especially when it comes to desserts. You definitely have to put a little bit more effort into meats and cheeses, but almost any dessert looks incredible so honestly how could you go wrong?

Here’s what I like to do though:

Gather your ingredients for the dessert charcuterie board

First, decide on how many thing you want to make yourself verses how many things you want to buy at the store. In this case, for our Galentine’s Day dessert charcuterie board, I opted to make these homemade sugar cookies. The time it took to make the cookies and the frosting was enough for me, and since it’s galentine’s day, you know I’ll be treating myself to minimal work! So I bought everything else at the store, and tried to stick to things that were chocolate and also pink 🙂

Put your dips into bowls

For this board I decided to go with chocolate hummus and melted white chocolate for dipping. Everything tastes great with both, so they were clear winners to me! I put both of those into different bowls. I also wanted to keep the m&ms at least somewhat contained, so I put those in a bowl as well. I always recommend, with any sort of charcuterie, to put the bowls with your dips down first, then surround them with your other items.

Arrange remaining ingredients around the dips

This just makes it a lot easier for you to arrange everything in your dessert charcuterie board. It gives you some direction, at least, that’s what I like about it.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! This is a no brainer, and one of the beautiful things about dessert charcuterie boards. You can pretty much make it as far ahead as you’d like, just leaving room for anything that may go stale if you leave it out. You can definitely grab all of your ingredients before your event, then when you’re ready to go just dump everything out onto the tray. This is why this recipe is always a go-to for meso easy and so quick!

FAQs

What to put on a dessert board?

I’m tempted to say anything and everything, but I think you’re probably looking for specifics. I like to start by having 1 to 2 main items, and in the case of the best galentine’s day dessert board I’m using these fluffy sugar cookies. Something else I’d probably make at home if I had the time would be these browned butter rice krispie treats or these funfetti rice krispie treats.

When should you serve dessert charcuterie?

Anytime you’re throwing a party I think dessert charcuterie is always a good idea. As far as the specific time during the party, you can obviously wait to put it out until dessert, or you can just have it out on the counter for everyone to enjoy the whole time. I’ll take the latter 🙂

I hope you all love this board idea – and I hope you all have the best galentine’s day celebrating your gals, and a great valentine’s day celebrating your special someone!

If you get around to making one of these this year – please do tag me on socials @sarahsdayoff , I’d love to see them!!
